The Ordering Process

Step 1: Consultation/Placing an order

For a current design order at standard sizing or custom made to measure: You are welcome to place your order via email or in studio consultation (by appointment only).

For a unique custom made-to-measure design: Consultations must be done in studio (by appointment only).

Consult sessions are by appointment only and are at a cost of R 250 which is to be paid before the appointment. In the event that you are happy with your consult and wish to proceed with the job, this consult fee will be deducted from your final product payment.

If you are happy to proceed with your order, I will then draw up and formal quote.

Step 2: Payment

For a current design order at standard sizing: Full payment is made beforehand. Please see Terms and Conditions for a full breakdown of the client contract

For a current design order at custom made-to-measure sizing: A half payment deposit must be made before the job can be started, and then remaining full payment on delivery. Please see Terms and Conditions for a full breakdown of the client contract

For a unique custom made-to-measure design: A half payment deposit must be made before the job can be started, and then remaining full payment on delivery. In the event that the order is a particularly difficult garment with pricey embellishments/lace, I may require that we complete a 75% payment 75% the way through construction. Please see Terms and Conditions for a full breakdown of the client contract

PLEASE NOTE: Well made corsets are sometimes expensive to be paid all at one and if you require a payment plan I'm more than happy to accommodate, however your order will not be delivered until the final full amount has been paid.

Step 3: Measurements

For a current design order at standard sizing: These are standard sizings only so you will need to measure yourself and choose a size based on the table under the Skeleton Key Couture Sizing Guide. Please do not assume that you will fit into a certain size without measuring yourself first. Standard clothing sizes differ vastly in the retail world so if you want a corset that fits well, be sure to measure yourself and select the appropriate size with care.

For a current design order at custom made-to-measure sizing: It is best to do the measurements myself if at all possible but if you are unable to make trip to the studio then you are welcome to do them yourself and send them to me

For a unique custom made-to-measure sizing: It is best to do the measurements myself if at all possible but if you are unable to make trip to the studio then you are welcome to do them yourself and send them to me

PLEASE NOTE: Custom made-to-measure pieces require exact measurements to be taken in order to create the pattern and garment. This can either be done in my studio by myself but in the event that a client is not able to come to my studio, you may measure yourself or have a dressmaker do it for you. In the event that the client takes measurements themselves, please understand that Skeleton Key Couture cannot be held liable for badly fitting garments due to incorrect measurements taken by clients.

Step 4: Fittings

For a current design order at standard sizing: There are no fittings for a standard size corsets, however, you are more than welcome to organise a studio consultation where you may try on the sample sizes I have available before proceeding with your order.

For a current design at custom made-to-measure sizing: It is best to complete at least one physical fitting in studio before I finish your order. If you feel this is unnecessary or are unable to complete a fitting appointment, your order can be completed without a fitting/fittings.

For a unique custom made-to-measure sizing: I will need to have you in studio for 1-2 physical fittings so please make sure you allow time and travel for these fitting appointments.

PLEASE NOTE: In the event that the client cannot be available for fittings, Skeleton Key Couture cannot be held liable for minor fit issues that cannot be corrected without fitting appointments.

Step 5: Delivery

All garments must be paid for in full before delivery. No exceptions.

You are more than welcome to come and collect your garment from my studio or I can arrange for your piece to be delivered at an increased fee.
